A former Bracknell Forest Borough Councillor (Crown Wood) and Bracknell Town Councillor (Old Bracknell), Roy is a retired Thames Valley Police Superintendent. He has a doctorate in criminal justice and is also a qualified teacher, having taught sociology at Farnborough Sixth Form College and Buckinghamshire Chilterns University. He maintains a keen interest in criminal justice and has published articles on policing.
Until his recent retirement, Roy worked as a business consultant in Information Technology. He is a member of the Institute of Customer Service and has expertise in complaint handling and conflict resolution.
Roy, who has lived locally for over 30 years, is now Chair of Bracknell Constituency Labour Party. He has served on the school governing bodies at Oaklands in Crowthorne, Garth Hill College and Ranelagh. He is currently Chair of governors at Fox Hill Primary school in Easthampstead. Passionate about education, Roy has been a school governor for 25 years.
